Cool people

Traits I appreciate that make for great friends:

They are generally (and sometimes painfully)self-aware enough to realize how dangerous they really are, but usually choose to behave. I think my premise is that everyone is actually very dangerous being placed here in the world.. but only some people really understand that. The ones who understand this and know how to rein it in, discipline themselves for a higher calling are generally really interesting and inspiring people to be around. They may be misunderstood at times, often erring in being a little too passionate, too irreverent (or maybe weird), ambitious in others' opinion, but they're okay with that and often bring a dose of humor to balance out what would otherwise be an overserious existence. They are often ones who whisper some completely cheeky, sometimes tart, comment in my ear when we're attending church or at some solemn moment (which I love). They paint their own unique color in the pattern of life and it is indelible and not to be confused with any other color. Although they are driven dreamers with high capabilities, skills and knowledge, they are quick to be humbled but confident in what God has given them to push through the failures and continue their fight. They value the important things in life- not so much the cars, houses, careers or status (and many of them have attained these things)- but the beauty of unique moments in time shared with with others and they commit these moments to memory. They don't measure life by what God can do for them, they measure it by how much they've grown and have been challenged despite circumstances. When circumstances happen, they refrain from pat answers, canned sayings (christian or p.c., or otherwise)and attitudes, and acknowledge a situation for what it is.
